Thomas P. Savoy, 69, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Ludlow to the late John and Rita (Methot) Savoy, he was a longtime West Springfield resident.
Thomas was a graduate of the class of ‘73 at Cathedral High School. Sports and music were highlights of his high school years playing varsity baseball and basketball and playing keyboards and bass in bands. After high school, he did a short stint in the Air Force Academy before returning to his love of his life, Eileen. Tom worked for Peter Pan Bus Company before leaving to start up a publishing company which produced the Auto (and Truck) Buyer, Apartments, and House Hunter. After an impressive career in sales and advertising, Tom retired in 2020.
Advertising was just one aspect of his impressive careers. In the 80s, he compiled multiple prints, mostly black and white abstracts, into successful showcases. But even when he wasn’t doing live showings, he was still taking photographs, developing them in his dark room, then expanding into the digital age
A huge passion of his life was music. In his younger years, he played in local bands including Koalas and Private Moves. In the 90s, he started solo gigs. After retirement, he only ramped up his yearly gigs, playing over 50 shows a year all over Western MA. He liked to say he had a repertoire of over 1000 songs! There was only one thing that brought more light to his face than music, his family.
In addition to his parents, Tom was also predeceased by his brother James Savoy. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 48 years Eileen (Quinn) Savoy, their devoted daughters; Natalie Donze and her husband Tim of Westfield and Emma Vreeland and her husband Daniel of Belchertown, two sisters; Carole Savoy of CA and Patricia Corjay of North Andover, MA and his three cherished grandsons; Jack and Nathan Vreeland and Jake Donze.
